Answer: After the 86th Amendment to the Constitution, Article 21 A says free and compulsory education for all children between 6 and 14 years is the fundamental right of the children.
Framing article 21A into the pages of the Indian constitution was vital. The article primarily came into existence to protect the rights of the children, and minors and to stop abuse against them. In the early period, children of the rural sectors were used for manual labor in factories, farms, and other sectors of employment which gradually took the part of education and studies away from the children.
With this article 21a, it was made mandatory for the children aged between 6 – 14 to have education compulsory provided by the state, and the act of child labor was declared as an offense.
