Q.What Is The Empirical Formula of Glucose?

Glucose, one of the many carbohydrate components, is considered the simplest form of sugar and an important energy source for living organisms. It belongs to the subcategory of carbohydrates known as Monosaccharides.

Its molecular formula is C6H12O6.

For finding the empirical formula, the subscripts of the molecular formula are divided by Six, the Greatest Common Factor, which results in the Empirical Formula of Glucose – CH2O. It indicates that, in the molecule of Glucose, for each carbon and oxygen atom, Hydrogen has two-atom.

A mathematical relationship between Molecular formula and Empirical Formula of Glucose can be given as:-

Molecular formula = N * Empirical Formula

Where the value of N can be any whole number.
