The given statement is false.
Acids have no effect on non-metal.
Acid is formed when nonmetal oxides combine with water.
Non-metals almost never react with dilute mineral acids.
This is due to the fact that when an element reacts with acids, it donates electrons to the
H+
ions formed by the acids.
Non-metals are electron acceptors in and of themselves.
So there’s no doubt that they can contribute electrons to the acid’s hydrogen ion.
As a result, non-metals rarely react with dilute acids.
