Answer: As per the historical periodicals’ classification, there seem to be 18 groups. The periodic table has 8 groups involved: 1st group, 2nd group, 13th group, 14th group, 15th group , 16th group, 17th group and 18th group. (previously numbered  as 1]Ia, 2] IIa, 3]IIIa, 4]IVa, 5]Va, 6]VIa, 7]VIIa, and 0, respectively).
