Define Representative Element

Representative elements are found in the first two families (Groups I and II on the far left) and the last six families or groups (on the right) of the Periodic Table.

• Representative elements include items such as s-block and p-block.
• The s- block elements with 1s2 and 2s2 outermost configuration are known as elements in groups 1 and 2.
• The p-block elements belong to group 13-17, and their outermost configuration ranges from ns2np1 to ns2np5.
