Why Lysosomes are known as Suicidal Bags?

Lysosomes are small sacs that have strong acid and digestive enzymes inside them. Lysosomes play a very important role in the growth and repair of our body cells by digesting the waste products inside all of our cells, including the cells lining our organs. When these waste products are digested by lysosomes, they release chemicals which help to recycle other materials in our bodies and to make new proteins and tissues that we need. They also help to recycle old tissues after they have been damaged or worn out.

The lysosomes contain an enzyme called lysosomatide, which can digest most of the harmful substances that we take into the body. Lysosomes only work when an animal or plant is growing or after it has made new cells.

When a cell is to be broken down and recycled, the old cell wall of that cell is broken down and absorbed by other parts of the cell. The old proteins, fats, and proteins are then broken down by enzymes. Since lysosomes themselves don’t break down into other substances, they digest all of the waste products in a cell. Once the cell is done with them, Instead of being broken up by the recycling process called autophagy, the lysosome becomes so bloated that it explodes, killing its host cell in a suicidal act of cellular gallantry. That is why Lysosomes are known as suicidal bags.
