Why are Villi Present in the Intestine and Not in the Stomach?

Answer: The millions of tiny finger-like projections present on the mucosal wall of the small intestine are known as villi. Villi has the ability to increase the surface area for absorption of nutrients. They are present in the small intestine in order to increase the surface area of absorption. As the absorption process takes place in the small intestine and not in the stomach the villi are present in the small intestine.
