What is the Function of Xylem in Ferns

Answer:

In vascular plants, xylem is a type of tissue that transfers water and some nutrients from the roots to the leaves. Xylem is made up of various cell kinds.

The xylem’s primary function is to transfer water and soluble nutrients, such as minerals and inorganic ions, from the roots to the rest of the plant.

The tissue that aids in the transfer of water and dissolved compounds throughout the plant is known as xylem. The plant’s xylem is found in the roots, stems, and leaves. It is made up of four components, namely:

  1. Tracheids
  2. Xylem vessels
  3. Xylem fibers
  4. Xylem parenchyma

Xylem tissue is made up of tracheary components, which are specialized water-conducting cells. The xylem is non-living tissue since all of its components are dead  and save the xylem parenchyma.
