  • Nucellus is important in plants that reproduce sexually. It gives nutrients to the embryo and also protects it from the harsh environment outside. A small gap called micropyle is also present.
  • Micropyle absorbs water, allowing the embryo’s survival. If indeed the nucellus cannot be found, the embryo would not receive enough food to develop and grow. This will eventually lead to the embryo’s death. It means that no new generation will be produced.
