What is the Function of Micropyle?

Answer: – The sprouting of the seed is significantly influenced by micropyle. A micropyle is a tiny aperture in the layers of the epidermis at the tip of the nucleus. The pollen tube initially enters the ovule where it deposits the sperm for fertilisation from the hyphae end. The micropyle also facilitates water absorption during seed germination, and eventually, during seed germination, the roots develop through the micropyle. The stamen enters the ovule by the micropylar end, depositing the sperm that will lead to fertilisation. When a seed is germinating, the micropyle aids in water absorption. Only at time of germinating seeds, the root develops through such a micropyle.
