What is the full form of ANC?

With respect to the subject of biology, ANC can be rightly expanded as absolute neutrophil count. 

To understand the full form better, it is first essential to delve deeper into what neutrophils are. These are actually a part of the defence mechanisms found in the human body. WBCs or white blood cells are further divided into numerous types based on their respective functions and shapes or sizes. This helps in better saving the body from attacks by pathogens. Likewise, neutrophils are a type of white blood cell. These are helpful in fighting different types of infections in the body. The background reasons causing these infections range from person to person based on the external as well as internal surroundings. 

There are some health hazards related to absolute neutrophil count as well. If it is really low, it means that the person is suffering from neutropenia. It is a deficiency disease of neutrophils. In such a scenario, the body goes into the self-destructive mode, and no medications prove fruitful.

The procedure is not very complicated – the routine blood sample can be used to decipher the value of absolute neutrophil count easily. Though the calculation is a bit complex for some, the overall accuracy is high in most cases. The actual number of white blood cells found is multiplied by the percentage count of neutrophils as per normal human body. There are negligible variations based on gender, age, etc.
