Answer: The point mutation is a type of mutation which affects any type of single nucleotide or the nucleic acid. It mainly occurs when there is one base that is substituted for any other. The different examples of point mutations are:

Cystic Fibrosis: This occurs when the deletion of nucleotides (three), takes place in the CFTR gene. Here, the misfolding of the protein takes place due to the loss of amino acid phenylalanine.
