What is Meant by Double Circulation? What is its Significance

During double circulation, blood circulates twice through the heart in a single cardiac cycle. This form of circulation is present in mammals, amphibians and reptiles.

Blood is separated into oxygenated and deoxygenated components so that oxygen may be delivered to the cells of the body in the most efficient manner possible. Blood is circulated to the body’s tissues through systemic circulation and pulmonary circulation, respectively.
