Question- What is meant by double circulation? What is its significance?

The body circulates blood to the tissues through systematic and pulmonary circulation. Systemic circulation transfers blood to the tissues of the body and pulmonary circulation transfers blood to the lungs.

Oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is separated in the body through circulation. This helps in the efficient flow of oxygen inside the body.

In the process of double circulation, the blood passes through the heart twice during the duration of one complete circulation cycle. It is found in the bodies of birds, mammals, and amphibians.

During the process of double circulation of blood, impure blood is first passed through the heart through the right ventricle where it reaches the lungs for purification. The left atria then collect the purified blood in the heart before it is circulated to the entire body.

Pulmonary circulation passes impure blood from the right ventricular to the lungs for the process of purification. From the left auricle, the purified blood is then poured into the heart.

The process of double circulation of blood is important for the purification of impure blood before it reaches all parts of the body. The pureblood from the heart is pumped to all parts of the body through the left ventricle. This process is known as systemic circulation.

Double circulation of blood is responsible for separating oxygenated blood from deoxygenated blood. It improves the overall efficiency of the body and ensures that the body has an adequate amount of oxygen supply at all times. Mammals are known to support their body temperatures due to the function of double circulation of blood in their bodies.

Agility, energy and warmblood are some of the benefits reaped from the function of double circulation found in the bodies of animals. The separation of oxygenated blood from deoxygenated blood in humans helps maintain their body temperature and

ensures an efficient flow of oxygen to all the cells of the body.
