What is Epiphyllous Stamen

Answer: The epiphyllous stamen is described as the living thing which usually grows on the surface of the plant leaf. Along with this, epiphyllous stamens sometimes get connected with the leaves of other plants.

  • In plants, the stamen is generated in two different parts

  • If the stamen grows at the perianth lobe or tepals, it is called the epiphyllous stamen

  • On the other hand, if the stamen grows at the petals, it is called epipetalous

  • An example of epiphyllous stamen is lily. In lilies, the stamen remains connected with the perianth lobe of the plant. At the same time, you can see epipetalous stamen in brinjal. In brinjal, stamen remains connected with the petals
