What is a beverage crop?

Beverage crops are those crops through which we get liquids other than water. Any portable liquid is known as a beverage. It is a liquid that is intended for drinking. It is a less formal word for a drink. It plays an important role in human life. It provides energy and freshness to our bodies.

Beverages are divided into two:

Alcoholic 

Non-alcoholic 

Alcoholic beverages contain alcohol, and on the other hand, non-alcoholic beverages do not contain alcohol. Alcohol beverages can be further divided into two, fermented alcoholic beverages and distilled alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages can be further divided into refreshing, stimulating and nourishing beverages. Refreshing beverages are made to refresh our bodies, while nourishing beverages like juices are made to nourish our bodies. The crops consist of fruits, nuts, vegetables, and grains. As well as plants and leaves, flowers of roots are used to produce beverages. The processing of the beverages ranges from fresh juice extract to the fermentation of grains. 

Some of the widely consumed beverages are coffee, tea, beer and wine. Some of the uncommon beverages which are not consumed by many people are soya milk and milk-like fluid, which are produced from almonds. Some of the common beverages which are healthy for the body consist of fruit juices and concentrated extracts of certain plants. Fruit producing beverages are mainly grown in the summer season, and grain-based beverages and alcoholic drinks are cultivated in winter and harvested in spring. Tea and coffee are one of the most significant refreshing beverages in India. 

Some of the beverage crops are:- 

Barely rice, sugarcane, grapes, Palmira, maize, lemon, Apple, sorghum, cocoa, palm and agave. These crops are used to produce beer, sorghum beer, wines from grapes, alcohol, barley and rice for making beer, nourishing juices from apples and lemon, and refreshing drinks from cocoa and coffee. Corn is used to make whiskey. These are also used to make tequila.
