What are the Modern Farming Methods? Explain their Drawbacks?

Modern methods of farming pertain to a specific agricultural production characterized by high capital inputs, labor, the extensive use of farm equipment such as threshers, winnowing machines, and harvesters, and the extensive use of technology such as selective breeding, insecticides, chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Disadvantages are-

  • Modern agriculture often necessitates the use of chemical fertilizers, resulting in an annual decline in soil quality
  • About fifty percent of the nitrate in crop-growing chemical fertilizers gets dissolved by precipitation
  • The dissolved nitrate flows off of the land to contaminate waterways
