Answer: Protective foods are foods that contain sufficient quantities of minerals, vitamins along with high-quality proteins. Foods such as yellow or leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, meats, eggs and milk highly protect us against the enhancement of diseases that are caused by deficiency like scurvy and pellagra and beriberi falls under this category.

Protective foods consist of considerable levels of antioxidants that cause harmless free radicals.

These are the foods that provide protection and defend our bodies from various kinds of infections and ailments.

These are mainly the foods that help our bodies from any kind of harm and also help us to improve our immune system for better stability. In simple words, these foods help us to save ourselves from internal illnesses.

Just like our parents protect us from various obstacles coming our way in the very same way, protective foods help us to increase the portion of vitamins, proteins and antioxidants which protects us from the viruses and bacteria entering our body.

Vitamin A and C are the key nutrients that are found in protective food. So, some examples are Carrots, Sweet Potato, Mango, broccoli, tomato and cantaloupe which are the storehouses of Vitamin A and C.

It is highly recommended by the doctors that everyone should intake at least 5 or more portions of protective foods every day to keep our bodies fit, fine and strong. Dark green- and orange-coloured foods are rich sources of Vitamin A. They help us to fight against serious diseases like gastric cancers and lung cancers and also help us to have better eyesight.

Citrus fruits like lemon, oranges and grapefruits are also excellent sources of vitamin C along with foods like Cauliflower, pineapple and strawberries. As these foods are very easily available in almost all the parts of the world and protective foods are found in almost all the seasons of the year.
