Answer: Only a few plants, such as lotus and water lilies, have roots that fix the plants in the mud at the bottom of the pond. 

  • They are known as fixed aquatic plants. 
  • The roots of such plants are fixed in the soil at the bottom of the pond. 
  • There are plate-shaped leaves floating on the surface of the water.
  •  The stomata of the leaves are on the upper side. 
  • Solid steam plants are light and hollow and can float leaves. 
  • The stems are extremely flexible and bend when water flows, so they are not affected by strong electric currents.
