Answer: The deepest living species in a water body, like a sea or lake, are called benthic animals. These creatures, which have highly diverse looks and behaviours and have evolved to a variety of situations, highlight the diversity of underwater existence. While several benthic animals spend their whole lifespan submerged in the silt, others are hooked to rocks as well as other creatures. Examples of such animal are sponges, mollusks etc.
