Answer: Water Hyacinth plant is known as the terror of Bengal. The scientific term for the plant is Eichhornia crassipes. It is an exotic shrub that grows on the surface of water bodies. 

It cuts down the light and oxygen and inhibits the growth of fishes and other aquatic animals. It is known to have eliminated a lot of aquatic species and is competing with many others.
