- Chlorophyll absorbs light energy
- The light energy is converted into chemical energy when the water molecules are split into hydrogen and oxygen
- Carbon dioxide is reduced to carbohydrates
The process of photosynthesis generates glucose that helps plants to produce energy. This energy is required in plants to carry out the transportation of water and minerals and the process of respiration throughout the body.
The energy generated by photosynthesis is also used by plants to perform biological and biochemical processes that help them multiply as well.
