Q. List Some Examples Of Rabi And Kharif Crops

Ans:- The crops that are sown in a cold season, winters. Rabi crops are merely harvested in the spring season in the country (INDIA). These crops are also harvested in some other countries of the world. The linseed, gram, mustard, wheat & peas are some common examples of the Rabi Crops. An agricultural pattern helps in learning all the details. Rabi Crops are also called Winter Crops. These crops grow while the winters that share in the months from October to March. Apparently, the word Rabi means Spring. Also, Rabi Crops are the mixed season crops that occur from the winter-spring season. 

 These are found as seasonal & naturally depend on two seasons. Following the list, Rabi & Kharif crops are divided into simple categories:

  • Feed crops 
  • Fiber crops 
  • Food crops 
  • Ornamental crops
  • Industrial crops
  • Oil Crops

Cereals (Barely, Gram), Fruits (Banana, grapefruit, mangoes & lemons) and Vegetables (Capsicum, potato, onion, cabbage) are found as a branch of Rabi Crop.

  On the other hand, Kharif crops are opposite to rabi crops. Kharif Crops are Cultivated during the subcontinent’s season of monsoon. Practically, based on the Indian Monsoon season, they last from the month of June till November. They usually depend on the area of harvesting. 

The common examples of these Kharif crops are Maize, Rice & cotton in India. Such crops are also knowns as Autumn crops or Monsoon crops. These crops are mainly harvested from the third week of Sept. to October. These crops are mainly grown in the areas of rain-fed with humid & hot temperatures. These Crops are located or especially seen in the southern and the eastern parts of India. 

Kharif crops are generally categorized as moong lentils, urad, millets and rice. Such grains are key crops for the Kharif harvesting season.
