Give Examples of Trees Having Needle-Shaped Leaves

Answer: We know that living organisms have been trying to adapt with natural environment since the very beginning. In dry weather conditions, air absorbs huge amount of water vapour from trees. Since transpiration is a basic phenomenon of a tree’s life cycle and the leaf takes a major part in case of transpiration, trees try to reduce the surface area of its leaves to reduce the amount of water extinction.

Hence, some plants transforms their leaves into needle shape to cut out the extra water extraction. This also helps them in terms of protection from other animals too.

For example; Pines, Cedars, Spruces, Firs etc. have needle-shaped leaves.
