Explain How you Would Test the Presence of Starch in Leaves

Answer: The presence of starch in leaves can be traced by using iodine solution. In this case an iodine test is done because when one removes chlorophyll from the leaves by boiling them in alcohol, and then adds two drops of iodine solution, a change of colour happens. The colour changes to blue and this colour change indicates the presence of starch in the leaves.
