Saprophytes and parasites are two main types of life that eat heterotrophically. Most saprophytes and parasites are still unable to create their nourishment due to this. The primary distinction between saprophytes and parasites is that saprophytes get their nourishment from dead and decaying organic debris, whereas parasites get their nutrition from another organism. Fungi and bacteria are the most common saprophytes. They are important in environments because they release dead stuff into the soil. Animals or plants that are parasites might be single or multiple. Protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites parasitize humans. Cascata and Rafflesia are parasitic species. 

Microbes that rely on dead or decaying organic substances are known as saprophytes. Saprophytes are indeed a type of decomposer that is crucial in the recycling process in environments. Saprophytes function as recycling centres of dead materials in the carbon, phosphorous, and nitrogen cycles. Saprophytes are either filamentous or single cells ameboid.

Parasites are organisms that live in or on a host, which is another living entity. The parasite takes the nutrients at the cost of the recipient. As a result, parasites can infect the host and cause sickness. Helminths, protozoa, and parasitic organisms are the three types of organisms that cause sickness in people. 

Parasitic plants get their nutrients from other plants rather than making their food through photosynthesis. Haustorium is a specialised organ that absorbs nutrients in parasitic plants. It enters the host plant’s vascular system and forms a vascular union with it. Some parasitic plants complete their vegetative growth inside the host. Only the parasitic plant’s blossoms are visible externally.
