Define Wilting

Answer: The non-woody parts of plants can lose their rigidity, which is referred to as wilting. This takes place when the amount of water present in non-lignified plant cells decreases, which leads to the turgor pressure in those cells falling closer and closer to zero. Wilting serves another purpose in that it helps to reduce water loss by exposing less surface area on the leaves.  The rate at which water is lost from the plant at a rate that is greater than the rate at which water is absorbed by the plant The process of wilting causes a change in the leaf angle distribution of the plant (or canopy) that leads to conditions that are more electrophile.
