The 10 per cent law shows the transfer of energy to another level. According to this law, the amount of energy that enters a trophic level of an organism is also available for the next higher level trophic level. Only 10 per cent of energy is transferred to another level. 

This law, named the 10 per cent law, was given by Lindeman (1942). He showed that when the energy is transferred from one tropic level to another, the count remains only 10 per cent. The remaining 90 per cent of energy is lost in the respiration of the latter.
