The place where bees are kept is called an Apiary. Apiaries can be used for commercial or educational purposes. A swarm of honeybees live in a hive and an Apiary is a place where bees and their hives are kept. 

Apries can either be rural or urban and are of many different sizes. 

Types of structure for an Apiary- 

  • The Wall-less roofed structure that looks like a gazebo
  • Enclosed structure with an opening for the flight path of the bees

An apiarist is a beekeeper who keeps only one species of bees. The first usage of the word Apiary was made in 1654.
