How to Solve Alphabet Test Related Questions in Logical Reasoning

The alphabet test is a crucial part of the reasoning section. Each aspirant must possess a greater understanding of it to solve questions. We are all familiar with the alphabet, from A to Z. However, candidates tend to fail questions in the alphabet test section. Alphabet tests are alphabetic arrangements of words given in the jumbled word form. Arranging these letters into meaningful alphabetic letters is called the alphabetic arrangement. Today, you will learn to solve the alphabet test-related questions in logical reasoning.

What is the Alphabet Test in Reasoning?

The alphabet test is a crucial part of the reasoning section when appearing for government examinations. To better understand the alphabet test concept, understanding the English language alphabet is necessary. The alphabetic arrangement can be understood as arranging all the known jumbled letters into a proper word or sequence. 

In the alphabet test, candidates answer questions, such as where they are supposed to find the place of the English letter to the right or left of some other English letter in the alphabetic order. Here are some basic concepts related to the alphabet test:

  • ‘A’ preceded by ‘B’ is equal to BA.
  • ‘A’ followed by ‘B’ is equal to BA. 
  • ‘A’ preceded by ‘B’ is equal to AB.
  • ‘A’ followed by ‘B’ is equal to AB.
  • The vowels are the same as in the English language: ‘A, E, I, O, U’.
  • The consonants include B, C, D, F, G, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, and Z.
  • When a number cannot be divided by all numbers except 1, it is called a prime number.
  • Common examples of prime numbers include 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, etc. 
  • A number that can be divided by 2 is called an even number. 
  • Common examples of even numbers include 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and so on.

How Do You Solve Alphabet Test-related Questions?

To solve alphabet test-related questions, follow these alphabet test tricks and tips: 

  • Placing the letters in the forward order 
  • Placing the letters in the backward order 
  • Rearranging the letters when the first half is in the backward order 
  • Rearranging the letters when the second half is in the backward order
  • Multiplying the letter segment in the backward order 
  • The number of the letter is in between two letters only 

Apart from these, there are other ways in which aspirants consider solving alphabet test-related questions: 

  • When questions are asked about the number series alphabet, candidates do not need to 1 to the second digit of each number. Instead, you must check the last digit of every number. 
  • Left – left is referred to as the left end, whereas right + left is from left. 

What are the Types of Alphabet Tests in Logical Reasoning? 

The alphabet test is mainly classified into five major types: 

Number Series

The first type is the number series, where a set of numbers is given to the aspirant. Using these numbers, the candidate performs mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and so on. 

Creating New Words

In this test, candidates are given new letters to create new word types. Then, they will have to write a new word or a sequence based on these letters. 

Mixed Series

Mixed series is another type of alphabet test which involves an easy arrangement of letters, symbols, and numbers in a specific way. There are two types of mixed series alphabet tests: simple series and operation series. 

Alphabet Series

In the alphabet series, a group of alphabets is provided based on which all mathematical operations are performed.

Posting Words and Letters in a Word

In such questions, aspirants will look for pairs or digits where the letters and words will be the same.
