Marketing can be defined as applying various strategies to promote and sell the products by properly researching and advertising. Marketing generally involves advertising, selling and delivering the products to the target audience. Through marketing, the growth of a company can be seen. There are 4Ps of marketing: 

  1. Product

  3. Place
  4. Promotion. 

Branches of marketing department

Proper information and research about a particular product before selling it to the consumers is the key to successful marketing. There are various branches in the marketing department, and each of them allows one to work in a specific field of interest. In short, many different career fields within the marketing specialisation require writing or editing. Such skills are taught to the students while pursuing their undergraduate or graduate program to promote a brand, an organisation or a service.

The following are branches of the marketing department:

  • Research Marketing: The researchers in marketing have to gather a lot of relevant information about a specific product. The research should be done by keeping the audience’s interests in mind. A survey should be conducted to know the various interests of the customers about their needs and brand preferences. After gathering the data, the marketer can finally design and promote a product satisfying the needs of the consumer.
  • Content Marketing: This branch of the marketing department focuses on the research tactics by writing and publishing promotional copies for the organisations. They create various blog posts, advertisements and e-posts. This branch helps build positive views about the product that will allure customers to buy it. 
  • Search engine marketing: This branch mainly focuses on the various practices to allow the appearance of the company’s website on the search engine results. Marketers use various organic growth strategies to allow the customer to locate the product easily. Search engine marketers should analyse and make unique strategies to excel in this field.
  • Digital marketing: It is a generalised branch of the marketing department that increases the sales of the product as well as the product’s promotion in every corner of the world digitally. The awareness about the brand of the company is increased, which leads to more individuals buying the sales. Digital campaigns are made using various formats such as websites, emails and search engines.
  • Social media marketing: Various social media platforms are generally involved in the promotion of a brand. In this way, the people in that business can have direct access to communicate with the public in a personalised way. The marketers engage themselves in posting various posts or stories related to it. Based on the reach to the public, the marketers can generally realise how to improve the certain parts of their brand promotion to satisfy the public. 
  • Influencer marketing: This type of marketing hires celebrities or big public figures to promote a brand through social media or other digital platforms. Involving such types of people in the marketing area influences the audience to learn more about the product by purchasing it. This branch of the marketing department is usually successful since the followers of a specific celebrity trust their opinions and finally buy the product.
  • Product marketing involves various strategies to bring a product to the market. It requires many guidelines to answer all the questions asked by the audience about the product, which in turn requires proper research about the brand. This branch is involved in developing the price of the product. The reviews from the public are monitored properly, and changes to the product are done accordingly to increase the demand and value of the product.
  • Email marketing is a branch of the marketing department that generally focuses on creating emails that will target the audience personally to make them purchase a product. The marketers send newsletters or special offers to gain the person’s attention. Based on their reply and reviews, marketers would have an overall idea about the sales of a product.

Digital marketing

Digital marketing is that branch of the marketing department that employs the Internet and other digital technologies such as social media and smartphones or computers to promote a brand. Digital marketing was started in the early 2000s, and since then, this business has developed tremendously. The main objective of such type of marketing is to generate awareness among the people about the brand and its usage. Digital marketers devise many strategies to run the business smoothly and successfully. 

Digital marketers depend totally on technology which evolves fast with time. The promotion of a product can be in the form of online videos, ads and social media posts. 

There are certain types of digital marketing which are discussed as follows:

  1. Content marketing: It promotes the brand in the form of writing. When an audience comes in touch with the blog posts or other content, they realise the brand. Based on the requirements that the product is going to offer, consumers can decide whether to buy that product or not.
  2. Social media marketing: Digital marketers use various social media platforms to increase brand awareness, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
  3. Affiliate marketing: It is a form of digital marketing where digital marketers take the money to promote another person’s business.
