The stratosphere is a gaseous layer in the Earth’s upper atmosphere made up of ozone molecules. Its molecules operate as a shield, shielding us from the sun’s rays. When radiation enters the ozone layer, it travels through ozone molecules, which are responsible for maintaining the ozone layer’s integrity for returning a portion of the radiation to space, reducing the amount of radiation reaching us.

Ozone layer depletion is the gradual reduction of the earth’s ozone layer in the upper atmosphere. Ozone depletion also causes the ozone hole, a significantly larger springtime reduction in stratospheric ozone in Earth’s Polar Regions.

Check your fire extinguishers if the main element is “halon” or “halogenated hydrocarbon.” Remove obsolete air conditioners and freezers that operate on chlorofluorocarbons. Toxic substances may be released into the atmosphere as a result of this.

The usage and expansion of renewable energy sources is a critical step in combating ozone depletion. Apart from nuclear energy, fossil fuels such as coal constitute a significant source of electricity.

The combustion of coal, on the other hand, results in the release of CFCs, which depletes the ozone layer.

Reuse And Recycle

We should also try to repurpose as many of our items as feasible. If we are no longer using them, we must ensure that they can be properly recycled. We can reduce the demand for natural resources in this way. As a result, we can likewise avoid the negative effects of resource exploitation on the ecosystem.
