When the patient is given the first medicine Mifepristone, the hormone Progesterone, which is developed in a woman’s body while pregnant that helps the pregnancy grow well, is blocked to stop the growth of pregnancy in the women’s body. After consuming the first medicine Mifepristone, the second medicine, Misoprostol, is given to the patient right away or in about 48 hours according to the doctor’s prescription. The second pill Misoprostol causes bleeding and cramping to empty the uterus, similar to an early miscarriage. Some antibiotics are given too to help the patient with health issues. The Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) is less painful and does not require any stay at the hospital can be done at home if the doctor suggests.

The Effectiveness of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) depends on the timing since the patient has been pregnant. For example, if a patient has been pregnant for about eight weeks or less than eight weeks, the rate of Abortion Pills is most effective with a rate of 96% to 98%. If a patient has been pregnant for about 10 – 11 weeks or more, the chances are low with the rate of 80%, but the abortion pill can be effective if given more. The Surgical Method of Abortion is also known as In-Clinic Abortion. The Surgical Method of Abortion can be done at any stage of Pregnancy. The uterus is emptied using a suction system, and Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) are done after the 11 weeks of pregnancy. As its name suggests, the uterus is diluted and emptied. Usage of Ultra-sound is needed to know if there is no pregnancy tissue left in the uterus. The patients most commonly prefer Vacuum Aspiration.
