They have brought innovative and customized solutions in the various sectors of the Indian economy, which includes health, education, and healthy drinking water, as part of the mission is to make sure there is fair access, for all, to these social amenities.

Piramal Foundation, also known as Piramal Swasthya focuses on filling in public healthcare inadequacies by supporting the Government’s vision to meet global Health Care for all. Piramal Swasthya is one of the biggest non-profit organizations, in the primary public health care sector, in India. Its main focus is on Non-communicable diseases, maternal health, child and adolescent health.

Piramal Swasthya has been operating several healthcare innovations at scale, for over 10 years, which are dealing with the primary health care needs of most less privileged communities in India.

Piramal Swasthya operates in more than 18 states in India, through several creative public health care liberation programs thus far, and has assisted more than 10 core beneficiaries with its services formulated to get to even the last village and the last household.

Piramal Swasthya has over 2260 employees including 250 medical doctors.

Here are some of the innovative works of Piramal Swasthya:

  1. Piramal Swasthya provides 24×7 health advice to underdeveloped and less privileged sections of the community through the Remote Health Advisory and Intervention (RHAI) initiative. It provides medical information and guidance through telephone and telemedicine aids, all geared towards meeting its major goal of reducing the minor illness load on the Public Health system. This initiative has served as the stepping stone for India’s Health and telemedicine strategy.
  1. The Piramal Swasthya sponsors and has successfully held community outreach programs, reaching not less than 50 million beneficiaries in 15 Indian states.  Her Community Outreach services aim to fix the hurdles faced by the rural and uncivilized populations, in accessing basic healthcare.

These programs are carried out through mobile vans loaded with medicines, healthcare experts, medical gadgets, and devices, moving from one rural area to the other.

The Piramal swasthya has successfully partnered with many state governments and corporates and has two categories, the Doctor-led and the Nurse-led, that are functional in 15 states.

  1. She is a UNDP – United Nations Development Programme  Implementation partner for the United Nations Development Programme to enhance health services in communities in the environs of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati.
  1. Her D.E.S.H. (Detect early & save her/him) initiative, the community-based cancer screening program that handles breast, cervical and oral cancers in the northeastern states. As the name goes, D.E.S.H endeavors to help detect cancer at the initial stage by organizing test and screening programs at the doorstep of beneficiaries in places like Kamrup (rural) district in Assam where high rates of cancer have been recorded. The DESH team follows the patient up, throughout the processes of screening, diagnosis, and treatment. This has helped achieve better, positive outcomes, in the growth of cancer.
  1. The rural health program is a unique model in the country which has ignited the elimination of maternal deaths in the Visakhapatnam tribal region, which also includes Araku valley, for three years and counting. This was carried out as healthcare services are brought to the communities of those who can’t easily access them. Their issues are brought to the notice of the government and facilities are made available, thanks to the sacrifices made by dedicated teams, every day.

This program was introduced because of the high rate of maternal and infant death in such areas and communities. Therefore, the success of these programs has resulted and continues to make a positive impact on the national average.

With the involvement of multiple stakeholders and partners, Piramal Swasthya intends to bring into existence the Tribal Health Platform, to build a high-performing, sustainable, healthy ecosystem that adequately solves the health problems of tribal communities.

The platform intends to lead the agenda of abolishing avoidable death cases in India and with this, the nation can achieve SDG 3 by 2030.
