The Lok Sabha is one of the two houses that make up the Parliament of India. What is Lok Sabha? 

The Lok Sabha is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of India. The upper house is also known as the Rajya Sabha. The members of the lok sabha are elected by direct election from constituencies in each state or union territory. They hold their seats for a term of five years unless they resign, are disqualified, or are removed.

The Legislative Assembly of India has certain exclusive powers. These include the power to initiate and pass bills on any subject except those relating to finances and matters related to the concurrent list. In addition, it alone can declare a bill as a money bill. The assembly also elects the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha from amongst its members.

The first Legislative Assembly of India was constituted on 15 August 1947 after independence. The assembly had only 389 members and met for the first time on 13 December 1946. The members represented different political parties including the Indian National Congress, the Communist Party of India, and the Muslim League.

Who Are The Members Of the Lok Sabha?

The Lok Sabha is the lower house of India’s bicameral parliament, with members elected from single-member constituencies. It has 545 members, who are elected for five-year terms. The current Lok Sabha was constituted on 17 May 2014. The maximum size of the Lok Sabha cannot exceed 550 members. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha is the presiding officer of the house. The current speaker is om birla.The Deputy Speaker is now vacant. The Rajya Sabha is the upper house of India’s bicameral parliament. The Council of Ministers is responsible to the Lok Sabha.
