What is the Junior Science Olympiad?

The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a competitive examination open to students from all countries worldwide, primarily studying in secondary schools. It was first held in 1987. The test is one of the most challenging national scientific exams offered by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).

All subjects of Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) are given equal weightage in the IJSO examination. The competition is known for its complexity as it requires a wide range of knowledge in all three disciplines of science. Top students from each country are selected for the competition, giving them the opportunity to compete with their counterparts from around the world.

Main Objective of IJSO

The primary objective of the IJSO is to promote scientific education and foster an interest in science among young students. By encouraging participants to think critically and solve complex problems, the competition aims to nurture their scientific thinking abilities and ignite their curiosity about the world around them. IJSO also strives to promote international cooperation and understanding by bringing together students from different cultural backgrounds.
