Tables 12 – 15 helps students to learn basics of multiplication and also helps to improve individual’s mathematical and analytical skills. Though nowadays the usage of calculator is very common, but memorizing the table of 12 – 15 helps to strengthen basic arithmetic skills and thus it is a very effective tool to learn mathematics.
Maths table 12 to 15, how to memorize
Every number from the series 12 to 15 is a whole number or an integer.
The table of 13 is a little bit tough as 13 is a prime number. But there is a simple shortcut to memorize the table of 13. The last digit of the multiples is same as the multiples of 3. For example, 3 * 1 = 3, 3 * 2 = 6, 3 * 3 = 9 etc. Now, 13 * 1 = 13, 13 * 2 = 26, 13 * 3 = 39. So, last digit of multiples of 13 is same as the multiples of 3. And this makes the relatively tough table easier to memorize. The same is applicable for the table of 12. For example, 12 * 1 = 12, 12 * 2 = 24, 12 * 3 = 36 etc. Also, 2 * 1 = 2, 2 * 2 = 4, 2 * 3 = 6 etc. So, the last digit of the multiples of 12 are the same as the multiples of 2.
In case of the table of 15, the last digit of the multiples is either 5 or 0. So, this table is easier to memorize. This is applicable for all the tables of the multiples of 5, such as 5, 10, 15, 20 etc.
Now, 14 is a multiple of 7. So, if one memorizes the table of 7, it is easier for them to remember the table of 14.
12 × 1 = 12 |
12 × 6 = 72 |
12 × 2 = 24 |
12 × 7 = 84 |
12 × 3 = 36 |
12 × 8 = 96 |
12 × 4 = 48 |
12 × 9 = 108 |
12 × 5 = 60 |
12 × 10 = 120 |
13 × 1 = 13 |
13 × 6 = 78 |
13 × 2 = 26 |
13 × 7 = 91 |
13 × 3 = 39 |
13 × 8 = 104 |
13 × 4 = 52 |
13 × 9 = 117 |
13 × 5 = 65 |
13 × 10 = 130 |
14 × 1 = 14 |
14 × 6 = 84 |
14 × 2 = 28 |
14 × 7 = 98 |
14 × 3 = 42 |
14 × 8 = 112 |
14 × 4 = 56 |
14 × 9 = 126 |
14 × 5 = 70 |
14 × 10 = 140 |
15 × 1 = 15 |
15 × 6 = 90 |
15 × 2 = 30 |
15 × 7 = 105 |
15 × 3 = 45 |
15 × 8 = 120 |
15 × 4 = 60 |
15 × 9 = 135 |
15 × 5 = 75 |
15 × 10 = 150 |
Solved examples
Example 1: By taking the help from the table of 12 to 15 calculate 5 times 13.
Answer. Firstly, we will look into the table of 13 and write it in a mathematical form.
5 times 13 = 13 * 5 = 65.
Thus, from the table of 13, the result of 5 times 13 is 65.
Example 2: Following the table of 14 solve for 8 times 14.
Answer. Firstly, we will write the problem in a mathematical manner, which is,
14 * 8
Now, from the table of 14, we get that
14 * 8 = 112
Thus, the result of 8 times 14 is 112.
