Tropical Rainforest

Along these longitudes Tropical Rainforest can be found and along this magnitude lies South and Central America, Central and Western Africa, New Guinea islands, Southeast Asia and Western India. Being in a Tropical region, these rainforests have been seen to be getting a good amount of sunlight which increases average temperature of these forests and keeps around 31℃. Higher temperature has also been seen to cause humidity to be between 78% – 89% approx and this humidity causes frequent rainfalls. Western Ghats have been seen to be spread across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra with around 31,000 square KMs. This rainforest has been seen to start from southwestern India and has been seen to extend up to Kerala. Laurel family of trees can be found in this rainforest and also around 4100 species can be found in this rainforest. Tropical Rainforests in India also includes rainforests in Andaman and Nicobar islands where some rare species of flora and faunas can be found. Rainforests in Andaman and Nicobar islands have been seen to consist of species from Myanmar, India and Malaysia which totalled up to 2300 varieties of species.

These Rainforests have spread from North of Assam to Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. These rainforests have been seen to be either semi-evergreen or evergreen. Parts of these forests which receive most rainfall consist of evergreen rainforests and those parts which receive comparatively lower rainfall, consist of semi-evergreen rainforests.

Rainforests in Western Ghats have been seen to consist, Indian Leopard, Indian Wild Dog, Black Panther, Indian Bison, Indian Elephants, Indian Giant Squirrel, Lion Tailed Macaque, Crested Hawk Eagle, Great Indian Hornbill, King Cobra, Big Barn Owl, Southern birdwing, Purple Frog, Millipede, Wroughton’s Free-Tailed Bat and Land Snails. Tropical Rainforest Animals in Sunderbans include highest number of Tigers. Other than tigers, some other animals spotted in these rainforests have been Pigs, Deer, Water Monitor, Rhesus Monkey, Crabs, crocodiles and different species of Fish.
Whole Northeast India has been known to have many Wildlife sanctuaries. Dirak reserve forest, Dhing reserve forest and Joypur reserve forest are three major wildlife sanctuaries. Tropical Rainforest Animals in these sanctuaries and rainforests include stump-tailed Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Slow Loris, Assamese Macaque, Pig-Tailed Macaque, Hoolock Gibbons and Capped Langurs.
