National Water Mission

The “National water mission” is the kind of policy used by the government for the water supply with maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation.

The “National Water Mission” is an eighth mission under the National action plan on climate change (NAPCC) and it is prepared to help the water resource management to minimize wastage and conserve water. The “National Water Mission” was launched in 2009 by the prime minister for tackling the climate changes in “Environment and Ecology”. This makes effective changes in the climate and reduces wastage under this mission. The main aim of implementing the “National Water Mission” was to evaluate the effect of climate change on the water resources and to offer complete information about the water database in the people domain.  

Environment and Ecology of the nation 

The “Environment and ecology” both are the natural components where the environment reflects the interaction among the physical, biological and chemical components. On the other hand, ecology shows the connection between environmental issues and its organisms. Environmental science has documented for the disaster changes in climate and earth system that results in a change in the environment life cycle and hydrology. The “Environment and ecology” correlate with each other and make a change that is required in the life cycle process in the environment. The major environmental issues faced by the nation are illegal logging and mining, dynamite fishing, landslides, pollution, coastal erosion, global warming, wildlife extension, and climate changes. Ecology makes changes in a mentioned issue that arises in the environment and makes proper changes to erase these issues in the environment. 

National Action Plan on National Water Mission

The “National Water mission” was prepared under the national action plan to integrate with the water resource management. The main objective of the “National water mission” be: 

  • Promotion of the states and citizen action for water preservation, argumentation, and conservation. 
  • Main focused upon the unguarded and vulnerable areas that need to make changes in the water resources development and management. 
  • Increased water efficiency by 20% in an undeveloped area. 

The action was taken by the states and citizens to make improvements in the water resources management and make effective changes under the “National water mission”. This helped in making effective changes in increasing water efficiency by 20% in rural and undeveloped areas. These objectives have been achieved with the preparation of accurate strategies that leads to integrating the planning and sustainability development with the participants of stakeholders.

  • Collection of the traditional plan that helps in water preservation and “National water mission”.
  • At last, the development of the information system in water resources and collecting all information about the future effect of the “National water mission”. 
  • Implementation of the “National water mission”. 

The Government takes the major and effective step before implementing the “National water mission” on the nation. It analyzed all the policies and schemes that were taken by the government to make changes in the water resource development. With the proper evaluation and analysis of each step in the “National water mission”, the government executed the mission and expected proper development. After the execution of the plan, the government reassessed all the structures of the “National water mission” and found defects in the Basin water situation. 

National Water Mission on Environment and Ecology 

The “National water mission” had a major impact on the “Environment and ecology” as it tried to make the development of the water resource management that creates effective change in the environment. The “National water mission” had an impact on the climate changes in the environment and it tried to tackle the major effect of global warming that developed the increase of erratic precipitation, water availability, and snowmelt. The “National water mission” considers all the aspects that impacted the “environment and ecology”. Water pollution, global warming, dynamite fishing, landslides, coastal erosion were the major elements of the environment that also changed with the execution of the “National water mission”.
