Ecozones

Ecozones are the dissection of the land surface of the earth that is differentiated by the evolutions of the allocation patterns of the life forms.

Table of Content
  •

The biogeographic fragmentation of the land surface of the earth occurs on the basis of the pattern of distribution seen in terrestrial organisms. The ecozones are found to depict huge areas of the earth’s surface that consist of organisms evolving parallelly in isolation over a long period of time. These organisms are found to get “separated from one another” as a result of geographical features including deserts, oceans, as well as mountain ranges. These features act as “barriers to migration”. In other words, it is stated that the analysis of the “evolutionary history” of the containing organisms is executed with the utilisation of ecozones.

Association of Environmental factors with Ecozones

The quality, quantity, as well as types of environmental resources, constitute the ecosystem of the ecozones. In other words, it is stated that the study of the ecozones is made clear with an overview of its ecosystem. The monitoring of the components of the ecosystem is referred to as the framework of the particular research or assessment. In the course of the implementation of the “ecosystem management strategies,” the ecozones are taken into consideration by the researchers. The study of the biotic, as well as abiotic characteristics of the collected organisms is executed with the help of the ecosystem of the ecozones.

Moreover, the study inferred that the characteristics of the ecosystem including landforms, geology, vegetation, soil, land, climate, hydrology, as well as wildlife act as the key feature to analyse the concerned ecozone. It is found in the study that the ecosystem of different ecozones shows different features, as well as different outcomes of the study. Moreover, it is inferred from the study that the evolution of the concerned organisms is viewed with much clearance since the ecosystem plays a vital role in the evolution of organisms. Hence, the ecosystem analysis is considered to be a significant factor in the analysis of the concerned organisms.

Significance of Ecozones

In the view of the concerned study, it is inferred that the ecozones act as a significant feature in the analysis of the evolution of the organism related to the specific regions. Ecozones are identified as an element that is helpful in the assessment of the natural assets with regard to their history. Moreover, it is found that the effect of “both the natural, as well as human stress on the environment” is studied with the utilisation of the ecozones. The evaluation of the social, as well as economic trends included in the ecozones, provides an overview of the region’s environmental changes with regard to the environmental pressure that occurred in the past.

Along with these, it is stated in accordance with the study that the population change, as well as the population density, is calculated with the help of the ecozone analysis. This is found to be helpful in relating the target population with the evolutionary ecological factors. Furthermore, the situations faced by the organisms during the period of evolution are also analysed with a clear view on the basis of the study of ecozone characteristics. In other words, it is stated that the ecozones are regarded as the significant representatives of the ecosystems of the concerned organisms.

The distinction between Biomes and Ecozones

A kind of ecosystem that is found to be geographically extensive is referred to as a Biome. On the other hand, a kind of ecosystem that is found to be comparatively more specific is regarded as an ecozone. The biomes are found to be constituted of specific assemblages of animals, plants, as well as microorganisms. On the contrary, the ecozones are descriptions of the living organism of specific regions along with the related physical environment. Moreover, it is found in the study that the biomes are influenced by some people, whereas, the ecozones are found to be formulated completely on a natural basis. The Biomes are found with no political barriers since these are “widespread ecological units”, whereas the ecozones are found to be covered under a specific political boundary on the basis of their location.

Biomes are identified to consist of multiple ecosystems, whereas ecozones are a part of the biome consisting of biotic, as well as abiotic factors. Biomes are largely found to abound plants, as well as animals. On the other hand, ecozones are smaller in size and consist of few plants, as well as animal species. The organisms existing in the biome are not found to interact among themselves, whereas the organisms existing in the ecozone interact among themselves in the trophic levels, as well as through food webs. Biomes are found to be impacted by Latitudes, whereas Ecozones are not affected by the influence of Latitudes.

Conclusion

From the perspective of the study, it is found that there is a wide variety of utilisation of ecozones in the field of Archeology. It can be concluded in this regard, it can be concluded that the evaluation of the history of the fossils found in the ecozone regions is executed with the help of ecozones. Moreover, knowledge regarding the natural habitat of the invertebrates can also be gained from ecozones. Furthermore, it can be concluded that the reasons behind the evolutionary changes that occurred in the invertebrate organisms from time to time can also be evaluated from the dataset of ecozones.
