Securing global net-zero emissions by the middle century and protecting natural habitats is the main aim of this conference. The United Nations has a framework convention on the rising issue of climate change. It was held in Katowice that is situated in Poland and it was continued from 2nd December to 15th December in the year 2018.

UNFCCC member countries were the participants for this conference where UNFCCC stands for United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The aims and goals for the betterment of the planet were described. As the global temperature is increasing drastically, hence the conference puts its focus on this matter as well. On the other hand, implementing the factors of the Paris agreement in the environment and ecology was another main aim of the conference.

Paris agreement

184 parties have agreed to the Paris agreement, which aims to address the current threat of climate change due to the global temperature rise. Currently, there are 197 parties as UNFCCC members. In this agreement, the parties have taken several commitments and worked through them to make these realistic that would be described further.

  • Limiting the rise of global temperature below 2 degrees Celsius and eventually limiting the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius
  • The donor nations need to donate the finance to the countries, which have significantly lower income growth. In this way, the lower-income countries can take part in climate actions and the annual goal of donating is $100 billion.
  • The beneficial ecosystem was aimed to be protected which can significantly absorb the greenhouse gas. In this context, the utmost priority was given to protecting the forest.

Importance of COP 24 and the used evidence

COP 24 was specifically crucial because 2018 was the ultimate deadline to implement the work programme according to the Paris agreement. The commitment of the Paris agreement needed to be implemented as per the deadline. Trust among all the member countries needs to be implemented throughout.

Among all countries, financing needs to take place transparently and due to the rising threat of drastic climate change, any more time cannot be wasted in this way. All the countries hence made a bold decision with ambitious perspectives to make the search a better place on its environmental perspectives.

The report on global warming indicated the rise of temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius and it was published by IPCC, this has been taken as evidence. On the other hand, the emission gap report of 2018, which was published by the UNEP, was considered as well. In that year, WMO’s bulletin on greenhouse gas concentration 2018 assessment of ozone depletion by both WMO and UNEP were considered too as evidence.

Analysis of Blue and Green Zone at COP 24

The concept of COP 24 has been exposed to news, which is particularly accessible in the research blogs of SPICe, the ground of Glasgow gives it a charming flavour regarding the blue zone of COP 24. The Glasgow science centre is considered the Blue Zone of COP 24. There are certain significant opportunities to display illustration and graphic design of both blue and Green Zone of the event in COP 24. The space brings the delegation from 197 parties, in this regard; the observer’s organisations share their stories at the panel discussion, side events, exhibits and cultural events. The local government for sustainability is discussing creating a Scotland area, where the events are started with UN women collaborating with the governing body of Scotland.

Effects of COP 24 on environment and ecology

There are certain perspectives that are depending on COP 26, which is related to global warming and environmental change. In this regard, the specific purposes of this global event are discussed at SDG Pavilion at the UN climate change conference. The main aspect of considering the conference is to adopt the implementation of the guidelines of the Paris Climate change agreement. The agenda of accessing the COP 24 is to implement the Sustainable Development Goal, which is interlinked with climate change and the 2030 agenda. Almost 5 million doctors, nurses and public health professionals issue the action on climate change and health care for COP 24. This program has started with almost 17000 hospitals in over 120 countries. In the UK climate negotiation, Health is considered as the key element in UNFCCC. In this event, 90% of the urban population has been considered as the world’s breathe air containing a level of outdoor air pollutants. It has existed under the guidelines of the WHO. As described in this event, almost 26% of deaths occur due to heart disease.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it can be considered that the Paris agreement has agreed with the involvement of 184 parties and it acts for limiting the global temperature. The consideration of this conference helps to define the benefits of the ecosystem that aims at the future protection and mitigation of world temperature. On the other hand, discussion on the importance of COP 24 is defined with ultimate deadlines to implement the programs. The green and blue zone of the conference helps to consider the fruitful participation of different nations in this conference.
