The Indian central government allocates a good portion of the annual budget on social security and its development. Social security in India is divided into many branches some of which are:

Though it is mainly a social security pension, benefits are added for survivors and disabled people who got hurt during their work. Social Security Pension is beneficial for retired workers who have a stable source of income even after they are not able to or do not want to work after their retirement. Social security pension is given to people above 62 years. To avail of social security pension, workers must have paid into the programme for at least 10 years. Sick leaves, medical benefits, and sick pay are all parts of social security pension in India.

Social Security Number is attached to the social security account. Each social security number is unique. In India, the social security number is known as the Aadhar Card. This social security number is 12 digits. All the numbers are unique. It is linked with a mobile number. It has an address and a picture of the individual. An aadhar card as a social security number is very important. It is used in many administrative and official situations. The social security number is based on the following two principles:

  • Unique identification
  • Biometric
  • Instrument of social security and welfare
  • Demographic data
