It encompasses all the pivotal aspects that affect men, women and transgender people in society and regular life. This is an important concept in the domain of the subject of sociology.

Discussion

Explain gender issues

Gender issues have been defined in the subject of sociology as the summation of all important aspects that affect human lives including men, women and even transgender. This lays focus on the interconnection between the genders, the differences that are faced by different genders.

How is it important in sociology?

In the domain of sociology, the concept of gender issues is immensely popular among academicians and researchers. This is because sociology itself is a subject that deals with society. In this subject, the relationship between society and all its major and minor components are explained.

The study of the gender issue under this subject will let the focus shift on the darkness that is prevailing in society even in the 21st century. Even most of the countries state they are economic superpowers. However, this concept is still prevalent across all major sections of societies.

The differential treatment among a man and a woman for the same job done, for the same risk factor taken, is the main reason for the problem all across the world. The sociologist needs to encounter these issues very strategically to incorporate these issues in policy making. This will help the governments of various nations to rectify the norms, rules and laws to promote gender equality. Society too needs to raise the voice of those unheard. The court and the judiciary should take due steps to enforce this equality.

What is the importance of gender equality?

The maintenance of peace and security is immensely needed across all nations. This can be enforced by preaching and practicing equality across all nations and societies. Every gender has its fundamental rights and freedom. Society must respect such rights of every inhabitant of the society.

In this regard, society must provide equality to all such genders like men, women and even transgender in matters of jobs, education, and medical treatment. This should also include equal responsibilities. Treatment and various other allied opportunities.

Thus, if the society maintains such strict rules and principles regarding treating everyone equally, that would be reflected across the entire nation slowly. This will ensure that overall development in a real sense takes place. This will enhance economic development and prosperity too.

Every nation across the world aims for achieving sustainable development in society. This can also be promoted and achieved by developing policies to end gender inequality in society.

Explain the gender inequality at the workplace

The entire world, living in the generation of absolute digitalization, still is pulled back by the presence of various social evils. Gender discrimination or gender inequality is one of such evils. This means not treating everyone equally in the way of dealing. This is faced across the entire nation in various sectors including the workplace.

Studies and research conducted even in the USA, which is known to be one of the economic superpowers in the world, have these issues remaining unanswered. The “gender pay gap” is alarmingly high in the USA. In India, the pay gap exists in all sectors of the workplace. The corporate structure to Bollywood, even the absolute below labels jobs of daily casual laborers witness gender inequality.

The women in the workplace are deprived of equal payment even if they take the same risk as those men and do the same job. They are not even entertained in top important projects. This picture is almost the same across all the job markets.

The condition of transgender is even worst in India than that of females. Their human rights are not appreciated in every sphere.

Explain gender discrimination in society

Gender discrimination is referred to as the different treatment that is given by society among different gender groups. This segregation mainly happens based on the sex or gender of the individuals. The individual skill sets and capabilities are not judged; rather the only deciding factor is the gender that they belong to.

This discrimination exists in different aspects like education, jobs or in availing any other opportunities.

Conclusion

Gender issues are important for any researcher and student in the subject of sociology. This encompasses all the important aspects that affect the lives of men, women and transgender. This has great significance in this present context. All across the world, these are common issues being faced. The differential treatment of man and woman hinder economic growth and prosperity among the nations.

Gender mainstreaming must be included in all governmental policies, rules and regulations. This must be included at all levels. This is immediately needed in the present point of time for promoting equality and harmony among all genders in society.
