Therefore, there is an uprising and controversy associated with the “Dowry”, also known as “dahej” as “Dowry meaning in Hindi”, and the “Dowry system” that has been going on for decades among the population in terms of its justification and criticism. In this context, the further discussion has been provided by addressing the relevant information of “Dowry” associated with the “Dowry system” to reflect the purpose of it, as well as its impact on people.

What is the meaning of dowry?

“Dowry” has been significantly identified as a probationary system imposed by the society e as an amount of property or money that is being transferred by the bride and her family to the groom and his family for the core purpose of their marriage.

Why is dowry an ill-practice?

It has been identified that “Dowry” was a common ritual institutional system in Roman times that began with the desire to allow the groom’s family to demand certain amount of money All property from the bride’s family as to see what they are willing to contribute or share to make the settlement of marriage for the new household of their daughter. Therefore, the system itself upholds the basic analytical unethical quality of the social system where the other side can literally demand a huge estimation of Money and property from people who cannot even afford that much.  However, even then they are bound to provide and arrange for that much money or goods just to make sure their daughter can be given a respected household and services.

What is the fundamental surface aligned with the dowry system?

Even in many cases, the “Dowry system” has been imposed by the state government, as well as the locality and Society by authorising that it is a token of love and gift from the family of the bride especially their fathers, to make sure their daughters are provided with fundamental happiness in their married home.

How long is the practice of dowry?

The “Dowry system” has been going around for decades in society where the ritual has become a part of it just to let the other person that is the family of the bride to feel inferior as compared to that of the family of the groom.  It signifies that the groom’s family is much superior than the family of the bride as they possess the authority to demand whatever they want as per their convenience and requirements, which the family of the bride is compelled to fulfil, or they can even stop the marriage ceremony instantly.

Conclusion

The entire discussion has been brought up by the addressing factors of dowry. In this context, the basic substance and fundamental concerns associated with dowry has been mentioned and further explained to the core in order to provide a briefing and a concrete judgement to the context.  In addition to that, legal terms associated with the “Dowry system” have been included as well in terms of creating a better layout of the society e in terms of imposing such rigorous ritual for decades.

It has been identified that “Dowry” is actually legal in India under the legalisation anti-dowry law.  In this context, this is the dowry prohibition act.  According to this act, any such case associated with the action or activities that have allowed the people to take or give “Dowry” will be accounted as severely punishable. In spite of this, such incidents have been going on again and again for multiple reasons under the supervision of the attributed family with primary justification with management and government.  However, The act has been provided with the punishment that in case of any violation of the anti-dowry law, the people associated with it will be and will be imprisoned for up to 5 years along with that, they a 15000 rupees of charge or fine that will be given by the Family on the people as the value of the violation.

On-going reality associated with dowry has been more likely to lead out as violence against the women. It has been fundamentally addressed that “Dowry” signifies women in terms of the fact that the way women are being treated can be addressed as the treatment of a property.  It has been profoundly criticised that brides when they are unable to pay the increasing demand of the family of the groom with the price, their marriage gets cancelled and in future they are being trolled for being discarded by the groom on the day of their marriage.  In such cases, when they are unable to pay off their demand, they are more likely to face violence at their in-law’s house as the punishment for not bringing estimated property and money which often leads to death.  Such cases have been claimed that women are getting killed by domestic violence in post by their own husbands, as well as their in-laws. Thus, the entire investigation has been started off with the “Dowry system”. As per the declaration on the elimination of violence against women, dowry related violence and incidents have been mentioned as one of the significant concerns associated with women injustice.

Yes, dowry is strictly prohibited by the government. This practice has been banned by legal steps of the government.
