Breast Feeding

This topic will provide vast knowledge regarding breastfeeding. It is a kind of process with the help of this mother feeding her breast milk to her child.

Here, breastfeeding will be briefly described. By using some different methods, the mother feeds her child. Breast milk may be expressed by hand or using a suction pump. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that breastfeeding needs to start within the first hour of the baby’s birth, and this process can continue as much as the baby needs her mother’s milk. Here the classification and some detailed information about breastfeeding will be given below.

Breastfeeding: –

The ideal age limit for breast milk is day one to six months. Some babies continue it according to their demand. During this period, babies do not need water, supplementary milk, or any other food; also, all kinds of nutrition they get from breast milk. Even after starting to consume foods according to the guidance of WHO (World Health Organization), a baby requires breast milk minimum of 1 to 2 years of age. According to WHO, all over the world, 38% of infant-only consume breast milk during their first six months. Breastfeeding has many benefits for both mother and baby, which infant formula lacks. In India, there are so many middle class and lower-middle-class families who continue their breastfeeding process for a long time. As a result of that, an approx. 820000 number of deaths of children under five can be prevented yearly.

This breastfeeding helps the mother and her baby also. Some advantages of consuming breastfeeding are-

  • It helps the mother to recover her health after delivery.
  • Reduce the scope of breast cancer.
  • Enrich the bonding between mother and child’s
  • Breast milk is the ideal source of nutrition for an infant. Babies can get all kinds of food values from breast milk.
  • It shares antibodies from mother to baby.
  • A mother can feed her child breast milk anywhere.
  • It protects the baby from suffering from any long term or short term disease.
  • It is very easy to digest
  • It enriches the oxygen production for both of them.
  • It also reduces the chances of cavities.
  • Also, breastfeeding can improve brain maturity.
  • It also helps the baby to fight against infections.

Though there are so many advantages of breastfeeding and breast milk as well. Some disadvantages also are there, those are –

  • A baby gets all kinds of nutrition except vitamin k.
  • It is very painful for a mother.
  • Vaginal dryness is one of the prime problems for a mother.
  • There is limited safe space for a mother to feed her child.
  • Whatever a mother consumes that is also being passed to her child can be medicine or food.

Now comes the breastfeeding commercial topic. Nowadays, everything has a commercial aspect here in the case of breastfeeding; there also have some commercial aspects those are-

  • A most frequently selling breastfeeding commercial product is a breast pump. Those mothers who cannot suction their milk regularly use this kind of pump to express their breast milk.
  • When a baby cannot get her mother around them, they can feed on that time by using a bottle.

Along with that, there are two different methods of breastfeeding.

Executive breastfeeding-

When a baby intake milk instead of other milk products or water, that is known as executive breastfeeding.

Partial breastfeeding-

Baby intakes breast milk and some other foods or milk; then it is called partial breastfeeding.

With the help of some alternative style of feeding, babies can intake breast milk, which is called fake breast for feeding. By using some silicone nipples, fake breasts for feeding can be made nowadays.

If a woman is pregnant, is breastfeeding safe at that time?

According to this question, the answer will be that it is safe for a woman to breastfeed while pregnant.

There are some benefits and also some risks as well. The benefits and risks are described below-

  • If a mother wants to feed her baby during pregnancy, she should consult her doctor. If she has any risk factors, breastfeeding may be harmful to the mother.
  • If she is carrying twins, then also breastfeeding is harmful.
  • When a pregnant mother breastfeeds her child, she needs to sit down.
  • It is required to look forward to her milk production.
  • Mother can get a sore nipple due to breastfeeding.
  • Nausea can also arise.
  • Breastfeeding may cause milk supply deficiency.
  • This process works as an immunity booster.
  • It provides extra bonding with the baby during pregnancy.
  • It helps to feel safe and secure.
