Kerala planning board is formed to resolve any problem regarding the government operating within the state. Any planning board of any state of India is generally formed for proper planning, strategies regarding the planning and to implement the plan in the operation process. Kerala planning board is governed by the CM (Chief Minister) of Kerala state. The other members of the planning board include the finance minister, planning minister of the state, and the respective members of the planning board cabinet. The function of the Kerala Planning Board
The responsibilities or the functions are performed by eight different divisions of the board. Plan coordination division, evaluation division, agriculture division, division of industry and infrastructure, division of social service, division of decentralized planning, perspective planning division and division of information and technology are eight kinds of the board.
Division of Plan coordination
This part of the board is involved in the functioning of the technical field of the Kerala state planning board. This division is entitled to the following functions:
- Involved in the formulation of review of the economy.
- Generate reports of the allocated resources of the state.
- Provide accurate details about the development plans to the state government.
Agriculture division
This division is engaged with the preparation of the plan and budget of the agriculture department. They also review the overall performance of certain sectors for the formulation of “Economic Review” that is published by the board.
Evaluation Division
This division is entrusted with the study of the plan of action of government programs and projects in five year and annual plans. Point out the hindrance in the implementation of plans of the state government. Help in increasing the effectiveness of state government projects and issue guidelines for the projects.
Division of social service
It deals with the matter of water supply, education, proper sanitation, social welfare, housing, labour and its welfare. It formulates the fiver year as well as annual planning documents, prepares the budget of annual plan, and provides technical support to the planning of the state.
Division of industry and infrastructure
This division is entitled to do the following tasks.
- It prepares the economic review.
- Processes various government files.
- Review of various schemes and plans that are implemented.
- Prepares reports of certain issues.
- Formulation of plan budget.
Decentralised planning division
This division is involved with the formulation of five year as well annual plan of the following sectors:
- Development of rural areas of the state.
- Urban development.
- Development of SC and ST.
- Formulation of instruction and guidelines and policies of local level schemes and planning.
Division of Perspective planning
Preparation of budgets of annual plan as well as five year plan is important. It takes charge of studies of various matters of the state. Deliver of remarks and responses on the state government documents.
Information and technology division
It is engaged with the issues of the IT sector of the board. It provides solutions to all the administrative sectors of the planning board. This also helps in the computiseration of the Economic Review.
Planning commission dissolution
The planning commission dissolution generally refers to the incident of reforming the body in a new institution. The dissolved body of the planning commission is named as “NITI Aayog” which was formed on 13th August, 2014. Being the time “NITI Aayog” generally performs all the planning commission functions.
