Microorganisms are very small tiny living things. Those people cannot see with naked eyes. To see a microorganism properly, people need a microscope. They are found all over the world everywhere, such as in the air, water, skin of a human being or in an animal as well.
What is microorganism: –
It is a kind of living thing that exists in our nature. Most of the microorganisms are single-celled. In the environment, there are so many kinds of microorganisms. To define microorganism people should know how the word has come. Microorganism came from the Greek word ‘mikros’, which means small and ‘organisms’ means organism.
History: –
Before the year 1632 approx., some different types of investigations suspected that some tiny living organisms were moving by air everywhere because of some diseases. In 1635 Anton van Leeuwenhoek made a machine named microscope and in the year 1675, he discovered some microorganisms by using this machine.
Types of Microorganism: – There are some different types of microorganisms those are
- Bacteria. An example of bacteria is Lactobacillus Bacteria.
- Protozoa. Amoeba Paramecium is a type of Protozoa.
- Algae. Spirogyra also is a kind of Algae.
- Fungi. Yeast is a type of Fungi.
- Virus. Lastly, HIV is a kind of Virus.
Here the names of some microorganisms are mentioned. Some of them are harmful, and some are helpful as well. In the world, maximum Diseases are caused by Microorganisms. Those are described below.
Due to this Microorganism, plants, animals and people are getting affected. Some common diseases caused by Microorganisms in plants are
Aster Yellows – It is a kind of disease that is caused by phytoplasma bacteria. The symptoms of this disease are the young roots, leaves, and the stream getting yellow quickly—no transmission notice in plant seeds.
Crown gall- It is a type of disease caused by Microorganisms. Specifically, it is caused by bacteria. Rose, grape, and nut types of trees are getting affected by this disease. The gall is getting cream colour at first; then it turns to brown or black. Gradually, when the disease develops, trees lose their vigour; after that, they may die.
Black knot- A black knot is a type of fungal disease. It is caused by the fungus Apiosporina morbosa. It can be spread sexually or asexually. Plum, apricot, and cherry plants are affected by these fungi.
Canker- It is also a kind of disease caused by Microorganisms. Various types of bacteria and viruses cause this disease. In this disease, three are so many types of symptoms. Such as, the woody species are getting sunken, cracked, and flatted.
Here are some Diseases caused by Microorganisms that affect animals are described below-
In the world, animals are also affected by so many serious types of diseases. Sometimes those diseases are caused by microorganisms. Such as
Actinobacillosis- It is a kind of common disease that is caused by Actinobacillus bacteria. The symptoms of this disease are that the tongue and gums get wooden. It is seen among domestic animals.
FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) – It is also a very common disease among animals. Domestic and wild animals are getting affected by this disease. The symptoms of this disease are weight loss. Adult animals are mostly affected by this. They are gaining weight within a week. The milk production on a cow is also getting reduced as a result of this disease.
Now come to the final point of how people are affected or suffer by microorganisms.
The list of those diseases caused by the microorganism is-
Cold- The Rhinovirus is caused by this disease. The symptoms of this disease are coughing, headache, sneezing, etc. To get rid of this disease, people need to avoid touching their nose and mouth to disinfect it. Also should take warm water vapour.
Malaria- It is caused by Plasmodium falciparum. People are getting sick and having high fever from this disease. Along with that, they face abdominal and muscle pains, vomiting, and headaches as well.
Along with that, due to microorganisms, people face so many different types of diseases; some of them are German Measles, Chickenpox, Whooping cough, Ringworm, Tuberculosis, Bubonic plague, etc.
Conclusion: –
Microorganisms affect people, animals, plants, soil, etc. So many difficult diseases are arising due to this organism. There is no permanent solution to prevent that. So people need to be aware of it. They should make themselves safe from that. It should protect the animals, plants, and soil as well. Along with that, in nature, there are some good microorganisms. In order to make antibodies, bread, alcoholic beverages, enzymes, etc., microorganisms are used.
