Diphtheria

Introduction

Diphtheria is a bacterial disease that occurs in the human nose and throat that causes a problem during breathing. This disease makes a thick layer and covers the back of the throat that causes problems during breathing and swallowing. Furthermore, diphtheria also affects the heart, damages the nerve, and infects the blood in the human body. The symptoms of the disease are fever, weakness, and sore throat in the human body. The treatment of the disease is antibiotic and antitoxin, antitoxin helps by neutralising the diphtheria toxin in the human body. The medicine is easily available in the market for all the people that are infected by diphtheria.

Diphtheria

Diphtheria is a serious disease that occurs in the human nose and throat. Diphtheria makes toxins in the human body that are caused by the corynebacterium bacteria. Diphtheria makes a thick layer on the back of the throats in the human body that cause problems in breathing. Furthermore, diphtheria affects the human heart, damages the nerve systems, and makes the blood toxic with the help of bacteria that name is corynebacterium. Diphtheria is affected by the contact of people through other people, it moves in the air. Furthermore, sometimes infected people don’t get any symptoms and spread to several people making them more dangerous. Moreover, in this disease people’s necks get swollen, and face more difficulties in breathing and eating that make them mentally or physically weak.

Prevention of the Disease

Vaccination is the prevention of diphtheria disease in the human being to keep safe from this. Antibiotics are available for people to prevent the disease. Antibiotics help those people that come in contact with an infected person. Antibiotics help people’s respiratory systems and skin that come in contact with an infected person. Furthermore, there are four vaccines available for this disease such as:

  • DPT vaccine
  • DTaP vaccine
  • Tetanus
  • Tdap

Treatment of Diphtheria

Diphtheria affects the human respiratory system that causes a problem in consuming food and breathing. Furthermore, doctors use the absorbent pad to treat the patient, this helps to absorb the wound that occurs in the patient’s nose and throat. Diphtheria treatment is such as:

  • Doctors use diphtheria toxin to stop the toxin that is present in the human body and damage the heart, nerve system and infect the blood
  • Doctors advise getting antibiotics to kill the bacteria that are in the human body. These antibiotics help to improve the respiratory system and skin of the human system

In this treatment, doctors run the test about the disease and try to prevent the disease as soon as possible. Doctors take a sample of the patient and try to read those bacteria and its effects that damage the patient, this helps in the treatment of the patient.

Symptoms

The symptoms of diphtheria can be seen in 2 to 5 days after the person gets infected. They feel a thick grey membrane covering their throat and tonsils, sore throat, the glands of the neck become large and they feel difficulties in breathing or in fast breathing. They may also suffer from a small fever, in some people, diphtheria causes mild illness and there may not be any symptoms seen by the people on their health however they are able to spread the diseases to other people, such people are called carriers and they infect the other people. The disease can affect the skin, cause pain, redness on the infected skin part by bacteria.

Causes

The disease is caused by the bacteria named “Corynebacterium diphtheriae”. The bacteria multiply themselves on the surface of the throat and skin and spread out.  The infected person sneezes or is caught, from this the bacteria goes on the droplets present in the air and that is inhaled by the other person and the bacteria get the food and multiple themselves. Diseases can be easily spread in crowded places therefore the infected person has to use the handkerchief; therefore, they can spread the disease to others.  Risk is increased among that person that has not taken the vaccine of diphtheria, people live in a dense population and they spend most of their time in a crowded place. People have to take precautions during visits in crowded areas and they can use the handkerchief and mask in that area.

Conclusion

In the article on diphtheria, it can be concluded that it is a bacterial disease and it can be easily spread by the infected people that are suffering from it. Parents have to be careful that their child is getting a timely vacation from the disease. People have to use masks in a crowded area and avoid going to a place that is crowded however most of the diseases are spread from crowded areas.
