Rabies symptoms include headache, fever, excess salivation, paralysis, muscle spasms, and mental confusion. It requires immediate medical attention after a suspected bite from the animal. Rabies can cause the death of a person and thereby has been found in developing countries that dogs are most likely to spare rabies to the common people. For this particular reason, anyone who is at risk of contracting rabies should immediately receive the vaccination of rabies for precaution.

What is Rabies?

Rabies is considered a foetal but this is a preventable viral disease. It can spread to normal people if any infected or wild animal bite or scratches them. This disease is carried by dogs, bats, skunks, foxes, and raccoons. Rabies only affects mammals and mammals are warm-blooded animals with fur. A human being in this case is also considered a mammal and they can be affected by the Rabies virus which can cause them death. It has been found from several reports that more than 90% of animals who are resistant to rabies are wild animals. Thereby the pets that get affected by Rabies are having contact with the wildlife animal and from them; they spare rabies to the human being. In this case, a human being immediately needs to get the rabies vaccine to prevent death.

What causes Rabies?

Rabies is caused by the rabies virus as the rabies-infected animals have this virus in their saliva and through them; it comes to the human being. Rabies virus is mainly transmitted to human bodies through rabid animal bites or scratches and it gets transmitted through mucous membranes or broken tissues of the skin. Bite or scratches from wild rabbits infected animals can cause rabies in the human body. Raccoon dog bats are the most common carrier of rabies thereby dogs are also considered as the carrier of rabies to humans. In these cases, people use anti-rabies vaccination for their pets to disinfect them from rabies.

What are the symptoms of rabies?

The symptoms of rabies can appear from very few days after the bite. At first in the bite area, humans can feel itching, tingling, and prickling. Thereby a person can also have flu-like symptoms of rabies such as headache, fever, loss of appetite, tiredness, and nausea. After a few days of bite, such neurological symptoms of rabies may develop within the human body.

  • Aggressiveness or irritability
  • confusion, hallucinations
  •  Thoughts, strange or bizarre
  • extreme sensitivity to bright lights, touch, and sounds
  • excessive movements and  agitation
  • unusual postures and muscle spasms
  • weakness or paralysis
  • seizures or convulsions

What are the anti-rabies vaccines?

There are two types of vaccines for rabies that are available in order to protect against rabies in humans and these are cell culture vaccine and nerve tissue. The World Health Organisation has recommended the vaccination process of children to protect humans from rabies. Such vaccines are PCECV and HDCV. Intradermal immunisation is a cell culture-based vaccine for rabies. Prophylaxis is recommended for the continual and increased risk of exposure to the rabies virus. Thereby Periodic booster injections are significant and are recommended to provide extra precaution for the people for the frequent risk of rabies exposure.

What are the consequences if a person gets Rabies?

In case rabies increases in the human body, a person may experience abnormal behaviour, hydrophobia, hallucinations, delirium, and insomnia.

How long can a human live with Rabies?

The symptoms of rabies arrogantly progress to delirium and then a comma. Most of the cases date to your cause within 2 to 10 days after the first symptoms of rabies.

Is Rabies curable?

Once the rabies infection is established in the human body there is no such effective treatment. There are a small number of people who can survive from Rabies through the disease usually causes death for humans.

Conclusion

The World Health Organisation has strongly recommended the discontinuation of the production use of nerve tissue vaccines and the replacement by the modern cell culture vaccines for rabies. It can significantly stop the transmission to the human body and can prevent the cause of death significantly. The World Health Organisation has strictly recommended that the pet animals need to be vaccinated and trained by professionals and that they should be observed closely for 10 days. Moreover, prompt administrations of the rabies vaccine are extremely necessary after the exposure that can be combined with the proper punishment as well as the administration of rabies where it can be preventable. Once the symptoms of rabies are established in the human body it is necessary to go for treatment at the earliest for the prevention of rabies. Rabies is also occasionally been referred to as hydrophobia throughout its history
