In this lesson on comprehension passage on English language proficiency, certain effective strategies and approaches are going to be discussed. These approaches can provide an effective learning mechanism to gain a comprehensive meaning of learning a language. Understanding the requirement of learning the English language and its utilisation in the different fields are considered to be the core objective of the entire discussion. India is a diverse country socially, culturally and economically and the diversity can also be found in the case of languages.  Including 22 official languages recognised by the Indian Constitution, there are around 121 native languages. All of them are prevalent within the country in different states and regions. Therefore, language is counted as a barrier in communication. To come to terms with this issue of language, our country uses the English language for official purposes. 

Methods to learn the English Language

The most effective way to learn a language is to know how to speak and express something using a language. Comprehension passage means the capability of understanding things that someone listens to or reads.

The basic thing is to know the meaning of every word. Translating every word in the English language to any other language is not a suitable way to learn. Learning a language can only be possible in a proper way if the words are listened to and visualised in mind simultaneously. The best way to learn the English language is by being associated with English speaking people. Students or apprentices have options to accommodate themselves in an environment where the language has a wide range of uses. Such places include schools, colleges, universities. Students who have advanced knowledge of comprehension passages are considered to be ahead of others. The capability of understanding topics and keeping those in mind for a longer period keep students ahead of others. Those who are not a part of these places can also learn the language and obtain proficiency by watching English movies, listening to radio broadcasts and reading a lot of books, journals or newspapers in this language. 

Professional uses

The comprehension passage also brings the idea of the uses of the English language in professional fields. Public or private, all the organisations prefer using English for conduction of most of their operations. Languages are mostly learnt by students at a young age since they have stronger information catching capability compared to that when they get older. Comprehension passage often gives support to solve difficulties quite easily without any sort of issue. Due to the wide professional use and popularity of the English language, people from different parts of India accustomed themselves to the English language apart from their vernacular. 

For official purposes, English is the most dominant language apart from Hindi within the country as most of the population can understand that. Documenting in the English language can be a challenge to the natives of India.

Brings revolution in society

Being a colony of different foreign rules, revolutionary ideas and movements of different countries influenced Indians. In India, certain revolutionists learnt the English language, read books of renowned authors and were inspired by their revolutionary ideas. Knowledge of the language equips communities to exchange thoughts and ideas and gain efficiency in their approaches. Children who have great reading abilities are most confident about themselves. It helps them to complete tasks faster and enhances their doubt resolving ability. Effective reading skill is important for understanding comprehension. One should practise comprehension passages to sharpen their critical thinking skills. Over time, this will enable them to revolutionise the thought process of society.

Knowing the English language enables us to understand and communicate among different communities. Since it is a language of global importance, one must try to learn it by heart. Comprehension skills and exercises comprehension passages are a foolproof way to learn this language. Students should be encouraged to understand and practise this skill.
